GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO July 5, 2007 – Fiberforge announced today the appointment of industry veteran Don Evans as the Development Lead for their RELay™ System, a high speed, automated tape placement system for manufacturing thermoplastic composites. He serves as the company’s chief engineer for machinery design and development, responsible for both existing installations and future system improvements.

Evans comes to Fiberforge from Cincinnati Machine, where he was the Product Manager for Fiber Placement systems. Evans led the development of Cincinnati Machine’s widely successful Viper 6000 fiber placement system, which is used to fabricate large sections of the Boeing 787 fuselage and wing skins for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). During his 20-year tenure at Cincinnati Machine, Evans held positions as Product Manager and as Engineering Fellow, developing composites processes and machines for numerous leading composites applications. Evans has received several awards over his 26-year career in the composites industry. He has also written many technical articles, including the Fiber Placement chapter for ’Handbook of Composites’, a well known reference and educational text in the composites industry. Prior to his tenure at Cincinnati Machine, Evans worked at Aerojet Strategic Propulsion Co. in Sacramento, CA and Hercules Inc. in Clearfield, UT.

Fiberforge’s CTO, David Cramer, says, “Don Evans is a welcome addition to our engineering team. His extensive experience designing and building automated fiber placement machinery for the world's leading composites customers will speed the deployment of our RELay System in the marketplace and bring new insight and perspective into future releases of our technology. Evans's natural leadership skills also make him a perfect fit to be our RElay System team leader.”

Evans, 52, earned his M.S. from Brigham Young University in Computer Integrated Manufacturing and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from Weber State University in Utah. He is in the process of moving to Colorado with his wife and 3 children.

Fiberforge President & Chief Executive Officer, Jon Fox-Rubin, Ph.D. says ”Fiberforge is fortunate to have another composites veteran like Don Evans join our team. His proven leadership will help our customers meet their high-volume composites goals.”
